We know that many people worry about cancer but sometimes put off getting checked because they hope the symptoms will go away or think they will get bad news.
But finding cancer early makes it more treatable and can save lives. It’s important that if you are worried about a symptom that could be cancer, to contact your GP practice.
Reinforcing the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Cancer Alliance 'Peace of Mind' campaign to get checked out early, the national NHS has re-launched its 'reducing cancer barriers' phase of the Help Us, Help You campaign, urging people not to carry the worry of cancer with them.
The campaign which is especially targeted at those aged over 50, is designed to address the key barriers to people seeking help, the fear around cancer diagnosis and the importance of body awareness when it comes to bodily changes that could be a sign of cancer. When cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, treatment is more likely to be successful.
If something in your body doesn't feel right, contact your GP practice.
Until you find out, you can't rule it out.
