Our People Affected by Cancer Membership List allows you to help shape changes in cancer services in South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw, and North Derbyshire.

If you would like to use your experiences to shape the work of the Cancer Alliance, there are two key ways to get involved:

  • The People Affected by Cancer Advisory Board (PABCAB)

A panel of people who have been affected by cancer in South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw or North Derbyshire, who meet approximately every two months along with programme leads from the Cancer Alliance, and on occasion, partners from NHS organisations and charities. The meetings are an opportunity to share feedback and updates and to discover opportunities for further involvement. This work is then fed back to senior leaders and key decision-making forums of the Cancer Alliance. More information can be found here.

  • The People Affected by Cancer Membership List -
A way to use your experiences to shape the work of the Cancer Alliance with a lower-commitment level of involvement compared to the Advisory Board. More information below.

People Affected by Cancer Membership List

If you would like to use your experiences to shape the work of the Cancer Alliance, but would prefer a lower-commitment level of involvement compared to the Advisory Board, you are invited to join our People Affected by Cancer Membership List.

Instead of attending regular Advisory Board meetings, you can be involved as little or as much as you like in helping to shape cancer services in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw. Sign up with your email to receive opportunities, such as surveys to hear your opinions and feedback about our projects, or invitations to focus groups relating to short-term improvement work.

Here are some examples of the types of opportunities you may hear about through joining our Membership List:

  • A link to fill in a survey where you are asked to compare different posters or other communications materials in relation to signs and symptoms awareness
  • An invitation to complete a questionnaire where we are asking what is most important to our population in order for us to prioritise work for our strategy
  • The opportunity to attend an online focus group with other membership volunteers who have had a similar diagnosis to you or the person you care for, to find out about your experiences during a certain part of your treatment
