A national charity is calling on men to be more vigilant about changes in their bodies and ensure they see a health professional if they have any worries or symptoms that could be linked to cancer.
Orchid is dedicated to raising awareness of male-specific cancers, supporting men at every stage of their journey and raising funds for pioneering research into prostate, penile and testicular cancer.
The charity’s Male Cancer Awareness Week from 15 to 21 September is focused on early detection, highlighting the importance for men to recognise the early signs and seek timely medical advice.
Around 58,000 new cases of prostate cancer are recorded each year in the UK and around 2,400 testicular cancer cases. Penile cancer is rarer with just under 800 cases per year.
Orchid also aims to help reduce the stigma around men’s health issues by offering lots of support, resources and personal stories to improve understanding of male-specific cancers.
