At its heart are the inspiring stories of people affected by cancer – sharing their experiences, shaping our work, and helping us understand what really matters. We also hear from young people who are calling for cancer to be talked about more openly, helping break down barriers and making it easier for others to seek support.
The report highlights the positive impact of prehabilitation, rehabilitation and physical activity, helping people prepare for treatment, recover well, and live as fully as possible with and beyond cancer. We also look at how better data and information systems are helping services understand demand, identify opportunities to improve and deliver better care, alongside the growing influence of artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
There are plenty of examples of our work with partners and communities, including successful campaigns encouraging more people to recognise symptoms and come forward earlier for diagnosis – helping to make early diagnosis a reality for more people.
Looking ahead, the report sets out how we will help turn the ambitions of the National Cancer Plan into action across our region. This includes developing a new neighbourhood cancer strategy, strengthening community-based care, and putting a more person-centred approach at the heart of every cancer journey.
Read the annual report to discover the people, progress and ideas shaping the future of cancer care across our region.
