GatewayC is an online cancer education platform developed for GPs, practice nurses, GPs in training, health care assistants, physician associates and other primary care professionals across England.

The courses are supported by Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, and other major cancer charities. Courses are accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners.

All courses include interactive video consultations based on true patient experiences, interviews with oncology specialists and reflective activities.

The personalised care and support modules are listed below, however the majority of their courses are currently focussed on supporting earlier diagnosis.

• Managing physical effects

• Colorectal cancer - long term complications

• Lung Cancer - end of life care

• Breast cancer recurrence

In South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw the Cancer Alliance are promoting the use of GatewayC through the primary care CDG and at practice meetings with PCN and practice staff as a resource to primary care staff. GatewayC is proving popular as additional training because it’s free and as many members of practice staff can sign up as they like.
